If you are covering the news that the US Department of Justice has filed a landmark lawsuit against Apple, please see the following comment from Ben Barringer, technology analyst at Quilter Cheviot:

“The Department of Justice has various complaints about Apple, but all aim to illustrate that it has a closed platform which allows it to charge higher prices for its phones despite there being very little that is technically superior. For example, the blocking of super apps, mobile cloud streaming and messaging apps allows Apple to drive consumers to use its own applications rather than independent ones, and it can price the iPhone at a premium as a result.

“It is worth noting that it is very early days, and typically these cases can take three to five years to resolve, by which time Apple could well change its behaviour. As such, this is likely to be a long and drawn-out affair with twists and turns that could redefine the tech landscape.”
