Quilter’s WealthSelect MPS smashes £20bn barrier

Quilter has today announced its WealthSelect Managed Portfolio Service (MPS) has exceeded £20bn in assets under management, cementing its position as a leading MPS provider in the market.

Launched in February 2014 with active and blended portfolios, WealthSelect was introduced to help financial advisers outsource day-to-day portfolio management duties such as asset allocation and fund selection, so they can focus on providing quality financial advice to their clients.

The service was expanded upon in 2022 with the number of portfolios available increasing from 16 to 56, making WealthSelect the most comprehensive MPS in the UK. Both responsible and sustainable investment offerings were added, along with the choice of passive portfolios, giving advisers a wide range of choice to cater for a broad range of client needs and deliver a more personalised service.

In recent years the portfolios have become available on a wider range of adviser platforms. Originally only available on the Quilter platform, WealthSelect was added to selected third party platforms last year, with more being added since.

The portfolios have been managed by Stuart Clark since launch and saw the introduction of portfolio managers Helen Bradshaw and Bethan Dixon in 2023.

WealthSelect has seen remarkable growth in recent years as advisers increasingly turn to outsourced investment solutions. The portfolios hit £10bn in AUM towards the end of 2022 and have doubled in size in less than three years. Furthermore, the responsible and sustainable portfolios have achieved a combined AUM of £1bn in just three years of operation.

Earlier this year, WealthSelect portfolios were confirmed as the ‘Winner’ in the Cautious, Balanced, and Growth peer groups in the Defaqto MPS Comparator Awards 2025, while also being ‘Highly Commended’ in the Defensive, Cautious, and Adventurous peer groups. No other managed portfolio service provider won in every peer group, while WealthSelect also had the highest number of winning portfolios overall with eight.

Stuart Clark, portfolio manager of WealthSelect, said: “Having seen the first assets go into the portfolios, I am immensely proud of the growth WealthSelect has managed to achieve in little over a decade. The support from colleagues, investment partners, and crucially financial advisers, has allowed WealthSelect to flourish and become the success that it is today.

“There is never a dull day in markets and the past 11 years have certainly confirmed this. The portfolios have withstood many destabilising events, including the Covid pandemic, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the bond market rout of 2022, and more recently the erratic trade policies coming out of the US. It has been really pleasing to see the portfolios deliver stability for investors during what has been a truly volatile period.”

Marcus Brookes, chief investment officer and managing director, Quilter Investors, added: “This milestone is a fantastic achievement for WealthSelect and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Stuart, Helen and Bethan.

“WealthSelect gives advisers a plethora of options to choose from when it comes to investing their clients’ hard-earned money. Over the past decade, the portfolios have demonstrated their ability to grow and protect wealth over the long-term, regardless of what markets throw at them.”
