Quilter has today announced Kit Rees will be joining the organisation as investment strategist.
Starting 26th October and reporting into chief investment officer, Marcus Brookes, Rees will be responsible for externally representing Quilter’s investment strategy and views on financial markets and the economic environment. She will be interacting with clients and advisers, while also acting as a media spokesperson for the business on investment matters.
She will work closely with Quilter’s portfolio managers and ‘Global Partners’, leading global investment houses that Quilter partners with on its sub-advised mandates, to enhance the research capability of the business and create insightful investment output.
Rees will join Quilter from Bloomberg, where she spent almost a decade as a journalist covering equities and UK assets, including equities, fixed income and currencies. Most recently, Rees was editor of the Markets Today live blog and made numerous media appearances on Bloomberg TV and Radio. Prior to this she worked at Thomson Reuters as a stock market correspondent.
Rees replaces Lindsay James who departed Quilter in July.
Marcus Brookes, chief investment officer at Quilter, said: “Since we created this role three years ago, it has been vital in communicating our investment strategy and demonstrating the significant expertise we have in the business. I am delighted, therefore, that we have brought in someone of Kit’s calibre with a significant background in both markets and communications.
“Kit has played a vital role in editorial decisions for Bloomberg, and those skills are going to be immensely useful in what we are looking to achieve. She has detailed knowledge of the current market environment and can communicate complicated subjects to a number of different audiences. She will be a real asset for not only our own investment team, but for the advisers and clients we work closely with too.”
Kit Rees added: “This is a hugely exciting, if somewhat uncertain, time in financial markets with events in the Middle East continuing to dominate, UK political volatility returning and the US mid-term elections around the corner. I am really looking forward, therefore, to helping advisers and investors to understand why such events matter to them and what it means for markets, as well as how Quilter is navigating such volatility with its portfolio positioning.”
