Quilter Cheviot has today announced it has strengthened its fund research team with the hire of Ghazanfar Saleem as a fund research analyst.
Reporting to head of investment fund research Nick Wood, Saleem will be responsible for the analysis of alternative funds, including hedge funds, as well as funds within the fixed income universe.
Saleem joins Quilter Cheviot from The Capital Partnership, an asset management and investment platform, where he oversaw hedge fund research and manager selection. He brings with him over 15 years of work experience in alternative investments, having previously worked as a senior analyst at hedge fund consultant Amber Partners, and within the alternative investments team at Deloitte.
The hire follows the addition of ESG and global equities specialist Yusuf Durmaz to the team in September and adds to one of the largest research teams in the industry, spanning the fund, equity and bond markets. The team carries out dedicated research to review potential investment opportunities to include within client portfolios and in-house strategies.
Nick Wood, head of investment fund research at Quilter Cheviot, said: “With fixed income giving limited opportunity for returns and equities continuing to trade at all-time highs, alternatives have really come into their own in recent years. As such we see this space as vital in the construction of clients’ portfolios and we are delighted to bring a specialist like Ghazanfar into the team to help identify best in class funds that can act as true diversifiers.
“He brings with him a huge amount of experience and a differentiated background and in conjunction with the rest of the fund and equity research team we believe we are in a great position to provide quality investment recommendations across all asset classes as the global recovery plays out in a very unique way.”
Ghazanfar Saleem, fund research analyst at Quilter Cheviot, added: “I am really excited to have joined Quilter Cheviot at such an interesting time for markets. Alternatives have been a vital asset class for clients in recent years, and changes to the market environment coupled with growth in the investible universe have significantly enhanced the opportunities available to clients. I look forward to working closely with Nick and the rest of the Quilter business to help research these opportunities and create value for our clients. Equally, fixed income remains a staple part of most investors’ portfolios, and I look forward to working with the team in identifying the best managers available in the space.”
