Quilter plc, the FTSE 250 wealth manager, has enhanced its ability to support healthcare workers with the acquisition of MediFintech, a specialist provider of NHS pension analysis and support services.

MediFintech was founded by Graham Crossley, a widely recognised NHS pension expert and former chartered financial planner at Quilter. He is currently head of technical business development within Quilter Financial Advisers, Quilter’s national advice business.

MediFintech provides expert NHS pension analysis and support to financial advisers, accountants, NHS pension scheme members, NHS employers, and other organisations, including the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA).

Its specialist team helps clients understand and navigate the complexities of NHS pensions. They provide tailored guidance on the financial impact of decisions such as adjusting working hours, entering salary sacrifice arrangements, or taking on additional responsibilities. By modelling these scenarios, they assess how such choices may affect future pension benefits and annual allowance tax implications. The team also specialises in identifying and correcting errors in annual allowance tax charges and NHS pension records, addressing both systemic and individual issues to ensure accuracy.

With the McCloud remedy now underway, MediFintech’s expertise is particularly valuable as advisers and clients face critical pension decisions. The company is actively supporting accountants, financial advisers, and NHS pension members by reassessing annual allowance tax charges and helping them understand the impact of their McCloud choice.

MediFintech’s expert guidance is especially important for those facing contingent decisions — where previous financial choices may now require review in light of the McCloud remedy. This includes providing detailed analysis on the opportunity to retrospectively purchase NHS pension membership, ensuring clients can make well-informed decisions that align with their long-term financial goals.

By providing clear insights and technical guidance, MediFintech empowers professionals to confidently support their clients while ensuring individuals understand their options and obligations.

Advisers within Quilter’s network, national business, and IFAs using its platform will now have enhanced access to MediFintech’s expert insights, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to confidently guide NHS clients through complex pension decisions and deliver better outcomes

Steve Gazard, chief distribution officer at Quilter says:

“Graham is already a highly regarded technical expert within Quilter, and integrating MediFintech into our business is a natural evolution of our commitment to supporting advisers with digital tools to enhance their client offering.

“The businesses’ ability to generate detailed NHS pension reports and forecasting tools will prove invaluable to advisers helping medical professionals navigate their complex retirement benefits.”

Graham Crossley, founder of MediFintech, added:

"I’m delighted that MediFintech now has the backing of Quilter, a company that has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting healthcare workers. This partnership will enable us to expand our specialist services, continuing to help advisers and NHS employees navigate the complexities of the NHS pension landscape.

"MediFintech’s specialist services have already delivered significant results — saving NHS pension scheme members well over £5 million by identifying and correcting annual allowance tax charges and errors on pension records. We have already helped thousands of members understand their NHS pension and the impact of the complex McCloud remedy. With Quilter’s support, we look forward to extending these services to the wider adviser market and delivering even greater support to NHS pension scheme members and employers — helping more NHS staff secure their financial wellbeing."
