Quilter is pleased to announce the appointment of Kristy Barr as managing director, UK platform & investment solutions.
Barr brings extensive experience across the financial services industry and will lead Quilter’s adviser-facing platform and investment distribution teams when she joins the business in early 2027.
She has held senior leadership roles at Aberdeen, BMO Global Asset Management and, most recently, Octopus Investments, where she served as head of retail and a member of the executive committee, having previously held the role of distribution director.
Reporting to Steve Gazard, chief distribution officer at Quilter, Barr will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with advice firms and supporting the continued growth of Quilter’s proposition.
Working closely with advisers across the UK, she will help shape Quilter’s approach to supporting adviser businesses, providing valuable insight into adviser needs, technology developments and broader industry trends.
Barr's appointment follows the decision of Nigel Jeffries to retire after more than 15 years with Quilter. She will join the business ahead of his retirement in March 2027, ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities as part of a planned succession process.
Steve Gazard, chief distribution officer at Quilter, said:
"As part of our planned succession ahead of Nigel’s retirement, we conducted a thorough search for his successor, and I am delighted that Kristy is joining my leadership team.
"Kristy is one of the most respected distribution leaders in the adviser market. She has an exceptional track record of building strong relationships, supporting adviser businesses and delivering growth, and brings significant experience from across the financial services sector.
"I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Nigel for his dedication and contribution over more than 15 years with Quilter. He has played a significant role in the growth of our business, the success of our platform and the strong relationships we have built across the market. He leaves with our very best wishes for a long and happy retirement."
Kristy Barr adds:
"Quilter has built a market-leading business and a strong reputation for supporting advisers and their clients. I'm excited to be joining the team and helping to drive the next phase of growth.
"Advisers are navigating an increasingly complex environment and are looking for partners that combine strong technology, excellent service and a deep understanding of their businesses. I look forward to working closely with advisers across the UK and helping Quilter continue to deliver for them and their clients."
