Alan McIntosh rejoins Quilter Cheviot as CIO of Europe arm

Quilter Cheviot has today announced Alan McIntosh has rejoined the business as chief investment officer for Quilter Cheviot Europe, subject to regulatory approval.

McIntosh was most recently chief investment strategist at parent company, Quilter Cheviot, where he served for 18 years, and planned to retire last year after the arrival of Caroline Simmons as chief investment officer at the firm.

McIntosh will be based in Dublin and will report into Quilter Cheviot Europe’s chief executive, Andrew Fahy.

The appointment comes following the unexpected death of Quilter Cheviot Europe’s chief investment officer, Donnacha Fox, at the start of the year.

Andrew Fahy, chief executive at Quilter Cheviot Europe, said: “In response to the tragic and unexpected news of Donnacha’s passing at the beginning of the year, we have been thinking long and hard about how best to appoint a successor as CIO.

“We are incredibly grateful and pleased to have Alan join Quilter Cheviot Europe and we are looking forward to him being a key member of the team here in Dublin. Alan has remained keenly focussed on investment markets since stepping down this time last year, and critically he knows our investment process and local marketplace well.”

Alan McIntosh added: “While it has occurred under difficult circumstances, I am really pleased to come back to the business. Donnacha has left very big shoes to fill, but I’m excited to work with Andrew and the team in Dublin again. Given the events of recent weeks, we need to guide clients and advisers through this challenging period, ensuring the principles of longer-term investing remain strong.”
