Quilter Investors, the multi-asset investment business of Quilter, has today announced it has made two fund research hires as part of its expanded Manager Research Hub.
Kristian Cassar has joined as Head of Manager Research in March to head up the fund research output from this new team. Cassar joins from Deutsche Bank where he leads the fixed income fund selection for the international private bank. Prior to this he was a fund manager at BDO Investment Management and has a wealth of experience in portfolio construction.
The business has also hired Yusuf Durmaz as a Senior Analyst from sister company Quilter Cheviot, where he was a fund research analyst since 2021. Durmaz brings over a decade of fund research experience having also previously worked at Allfunds and GAM, and specialises in global equity, sustainable and thematic fund research.
Cassar and Durmaz join Marcus Cave and Andrew Budge in the team after they transitioned from internal roles.
Quilter Investors recently announced it would be enhancing its fund research capabilities with an extended Manager Research Hub. The hub will be 13-strong formed of three teams: a new Manager Selection team; an enhanced Operational Due Diligence team and its existing Responsible Investing team.
Given Chanetsa-Mazarura has joined Quilter Investors from Mercer as Head of Operational Due Diligence and will be responsible for assessing the governance and transparency of the funds it invests in.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the business, Lauren Edwards has joined from Schroders Personal Wealth as Head of Implementation and Change. The moves follow the recent appointment of Marisol Hernandez in October as Quilter Investors’ new Head of Responsible Investment.
Marcus Brookes, Chief Investment Officer at Quilter Investors, said: “It is fantastic to welcome such high calibre individuals to Quilter Investors and to further enhance our manager research capabilities. Kristian is an experienced individual with a huge amount of knowledge in fund research and portfolio construction. Coupled with Yusuf and the rest of the teams’ specialities, I am confident we are creating an exceptional team to work closely with our portfolio managers and create excellent portfolios.
“With Given and the Operational Due Diligence team and Marisol and the Responsible Investing team, we have created strong pillars to underpin our investment and fund selection process. All three teams of the Manager Research Hub, along with Lauren and her Implementation and Change team, are going to play a crucial role in driving Quilter Investors forward.
“Advisers and clients come to expect quality investments underpinned by sound and thorough research. I am excited to see the output of the Manager Research Hub help fulfil these expectations and leave investors feeling empowered and confident in where and how their money is invested.”
