Quilter Cheviot has expanded its fund research team with the hire of Samir Shah, along with additional support in the form of fixed-term hires.
Shah joins Quilter Cheviot as a fund research analyst from Cenkos Securities, where he was Head of Research with a focus on investment companies. Prior to that he was a Manager Research Analyst at Aberdeen Standard, now abrdn, where he worked within the multi-manager division.
Shah, who has previously provided maternity cover at Quilter Cheviot, will report into Nick Wood, Head of Fund Research, and have a responsibility for UK and Global equities.
Meanwhile, the team has also hired Mo Bagate and Simon Woodacre to provide support on fixed-term contracts. Bagate joins from Brooks Macdonald where he was an investment research analyst and will work across fund sectors. Meanwhile, Woodacre, who will research the alternative funds market, arrives from Cardano Risk Management, where he provided manager research for institutional clients.
These hires take the size of the Quilter Cheviot research team to 22, one of the largest in the industry. The research teams are responsible for fund, equity and bond markets and carry out dedicated research to review potential investment opportunities to include within client portfolios and in-house strategies.
Nick Wood, Head of Fund Research at Quilter Cheviot, said: “I am delighted to welcome Samir back to Quilter Cheviot after he impressed us during his stint here previously. He is a very talented analyst with a strong track record, and we are excited to see what he brings for our clients and investment managers.
“We are also really pleased to bring additional support for the team in the shape of Mo and Simon. Both are extremely capable and adept at fund and manager research and it is important for clients and the partners we work with that they have access to a large, dedicated research team that can provide interesting and unique opportunities, and has the breadth to analyse the whole market.”
