"If you are covering the Government’s consultation response to the proposed amendments to the NHS Pension Scheme, please see the following comments from Graham Crossley, NHS pensions expert at Quilter:
"Today’s announcement confirms some welcome changes. It is good to see the introduction of pensionable re-employment from April 2023. The introduction of partial retirement to 1995 benefits is also welcome, but it is a shame that this is being delayed to October 23.
"Also, many disagreed with the 10% reduction of pensionable pay condition to access partial retirement flexibility and it’s disappointing that they haven’t listened to the feedback.
"The response highlights government’s failure to address ‘negative growth’ once again, and it was a little disingenuous to suggest that negative growth does not mean that the pension scheme member has not had a reduction in their actual pension benefits, when in real terms, the only way you achieve negative growth is if the pension is less than before, once you’ve adjusted for inflation."
